Set at the scenic Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, Connecticut, and inspired by brilliant sunset colors, Amy and Chris' wedding was filled with warmth, fun concepts and groovy details.

Admist the late day sun on the most spectacular day in May, Amy and Chris wed surrounded by those they love most. For this momentous occasion, the rustic arbor was placed in front of the vines and adorned with bright floral buckets and ribbon, while mason jars filled with apricot colored tulips and yellow roses flanked the aisle. Amy was simply stunning in her Amy Michelson gown, purchased at The White Dress by the Shore. The guys, ever so snappy in their grey suits and kicks set a modern mood. Amy and Chris’ simple, yet personal ceremony spoke of them as a couple, while soft tunes on the acoustic guitar set the stage for a personal and intimate celebration of their commitment to one another.

Thank you to BinaryFlips for providing such amazing and heart-warming images!

Following the ceremony, the happy couple and their guests transitioned to cocktail hour, featuring a wine tasting and yummy eats served up by Coastal Gourmet. The patio was cheery with a mix of teal and floral linen, inspired by retro Vera Neumann scarves. Pendant escort cards anchored in containers of wine corks and set atop crates were a nod to the vineyard, as well as the fun and relaxed vibe.

We love receptions at Saltwater Farm Vineyard, and there was just something so special about this particular theme. Inside the hanger, the tables were dressed in a mix of ice and turquoise textured linen, layered with white chargers and floral napkins featuring a peppy mustard menu band. The vibrant peach, yellow and nectarine blooms in a variety of containers made the room burst with color and off-set the linen to perfection. Special shouts out to Dragonfly Event and their drool-worthy flowers that had all of us gasping! Coastal Gourmet served up a delicious feast, and the guests danced and danced to classic rock tunes by Fairfield County’s infamous The Short Bus. Whimsical cupcakes with super cute signs by yours truly and a vintage inspired photo booth completed this fantastic spring wedding that left everyone smiling.

Courtney and Mike were married under the summer evening sun of Saturday, July 14, 2012.Their family and friends gathered on the lawn of the Guilford Yacht Club in Guilford, Connecticut to witness the touching and personal nuptials of the couple. The spectacular views of Long Island Sound set as a backdrop for a picture perfect wedding day. The décor was pulled together by the bold and beautiful color palette of
yellow and navy. The details of the event were carefully selected and
truly brought together the fun and whimsical feel of this summer wedding celebration.

Alissa Dinneen Photography captured so many natural and sweet moments of our bride and groom and truly understood the essence of the wedding.

The ceremony took place on the lawn of the Guilford Yacht
Club, nestled amongst the natural beauty of Long Island Sound. Courtney
and Mike were married by Justice of the Peace Sara Carson surrounded by their family and friends.

Following the ceremony, all the guests congregated at the beginning of
the aisle for a celebratory photo with the new bride and groom. The
guests were able to enjoy the lovely grounds of the Guilford Yacht Club
during the cocktail hour on the outdoor patio.
Family and friends enjoyed a variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres
selections both passed and stationary, while being swept away with the
natural beauty that surrounds the venue.

The details of this summer soiree were just the right mix of simplicity
and sophistication. The lightly textured, stripped navy and white ribbon
could be seen throughout the day from the boutonnieres, to the tied
napkins, the centerpieces, ceremony floral arrangements, the bridal
bouquet, and along the escort card table. The striped ribbon alongside
the navy and yellow color scheme brought a distinguished element to the
palette.

The reception was filled with the lively upbeat music from Timmy Maia & Friends. Father of the groom, Tom Sansone performed a few songs with
the band but the most memorable part of the night was when he performed
a song that he had personally written for
the new bride and groom. At the reception, guests picked up a pair of yellow flip flops and hit
the dance floor. Yellow and white lanterns were strung above the dance
floor.

To top off the evening, the newly married
couple enjoyed a kiss and a few photos while watching the town of
Guilford’s 4th of July Fireworks Display. Some guests joined the bride
and groom to watch the fireworks while others continued
to dance the night away. Courtney and Mike’s wedding day was filled
with lots of love and we are honored to have been a part of it.

What a wonderful night it was! The Sixpence Team would once again like to congratulate Courtney and Mike! We truly enjoyed being a part of your special day.

In a boots and boat shoes, beachy western sort of fete, Christina
and Chris wed at her family’s community yacht club, Dolphin Cove Marina. From the first
time we met, we knew this would be spectacular. Christina’s ideas were
well solidified from nearly our first meeting, playing on coral and sea
blue with vibrant navy and orange as accents. In the desire to keep
their wedding intimate, personal, and downright fun, details were
infused throughout to conjure memories of home, youth and festivity.

We want to send a huge shout out to Carla Ten Eyck for providing Christina and Chris with these incredible images from their wedding, affording us the ability to retell their story by sharing them with us, and hands down, being the perfect fit for Christina and Chris! She nailed it!

As guests arrived for the ceremony, they were greeted with pashminas to warm
chilled shoulders, offered to leave their shoes and set their feet in
the grass with a shoe-check station, and offered a pre-ceremony
beverage. A family friend married the couple under a seaside arbor, crafted by Christina's mother!!,
complemented by modern tunes played via a classic string ensemble.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds took a quick jaunt on Christina’s
family boat – Grace, which had been adorned with yachting flags
translating to “Just Married.”

Christina and Chris’s focus was to deliver to their guests an
upscale clambake experience that combined classic New England fare and
Texas down-home bbq, representing each of their upbringings. The
perfect fit was found with the incredible talents of the team at Outdoor
Cookers! From the raw bar to the pulled pork sliders, the cocktail
hour was a hit, as guests played croquet and corn hole, sipped cocktails
through colorful silly straws and mingled about. Nautical touches in
the rope knots on the cocktail tables and a beer bar in a small wooden
dinghy added to the fun.

Once inside the Pavilion which gives the
appearance of the interior of an old wooden boat, lanterns were strung,
with table images attached, each a carefully crafted cut out of
meaningful aspects of Christina and Chris as a couple. The tables were
dressed with an aquatic themed linen and runner, pale blue irish linen
napkins and buckets of goodies for the meal which would be served. The
flowers were the perfect pop of color and texture to bring out the table
top decor. Christina spent countless hours ensuring the details and personal touches tied seamlessly together, hand crafting and cutting the table numbers, and sourcing much of the decor including the blue buckets of goodies, the guest napkins, the silly straws with little flags, herself!

Guests helped themselves to custom lobster bibs with the
C&C logo on them, one which was repeated from the invitations
through the reception details, adding the cohesiveness to the entire
event. The dessert bar carried the theme of classic New England treats
with homespun touches, peach cobblers, cookies, and a mini two tiered
carrot wedding cake that guests could not wait to try!

The bridal party delighted guests with an unexpected line dance,
having everyone on their feet cheering. The toasts by both fathers, as
well as the friends, were sweet and sentimental, humorous and upbeat and
just about perfect. Guests danced and danced the night away leaving
everyone with unforgettable memories of Christina and Chris’s wedding
celebration.

We were honored to be chosen to coordinate Christina and Chris's wedding, to carry out their vision and to have the immense pleasure of getting to know them and their families. We wish them the very very best.

Lila and Paul (PJ as affectionately known to his family and friends) were married on a sun drenched fall day amidst a "Springtime in the French Countryside" Inspired Fete. The gathering of family and friends, the decor elements which infused the meaning of people who share their lives with them, and a nod to time traveled, well loved details brought together the intimate nature of Lila and Paul's celebration.

For Lila, a petite bride with a grande personality and impeccable taste, her wedding was a chance to leave the rigor of her intense day job behind, even if just for a day, and embrace her softer side. Paul, her strapping groom, always by her side, always looking to provide thoughts on design preferences, and absolutely adoring of Lila, is the best compliment a bride could ask for! As a couple and our clients, we felt a tremendous honor to share in their planning journey and wedding day.

Lila's wedding vision was built upon and inspired by her love of a blue and white Toile de Jouy linen from early on, and it proved to be the foundation for the entire event design. The backdrop for the wedding, the insanely gorgeous, seaside Eolia Mansion at Harkness State Park, and its adjoining gardens served as the perfect location to create the French Inspired Design.

A special thank you to Katie Slater for Carla Ten Eyck for capturing all of these incredible images from Lila and Paul's spectacular wedding day.

The afternoon setting sun created a warm buttery glow for Lila and Paul to marry, in front of the Pergola in the gardens along side the mansion. As guests warmed their shoulder's with a pink pashmina and sipped a Hot Toddy, Lila processed to no more fitting of a song than "Here Comes The Sun" by the Beatles, which was followed by a personalized and sentimental marriage ceremony. The flower girls handed out scented satchels of lavender for tossing.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the tented patio overlooking the lawn and calm waters of Long Island Sound, where Lila and Paul were then introduced to share their first dance and to be celebrated in toasts. Escort Cards were strung from aged shutters, each holding a vintage key.

Inside the mansion, guests were treated to flickering candlelight and shelves dressed with generations of family pictures, delicate china, and worn hardcover books. The tables were set with the blue toile linens and soft, fluttery, and feminine florals, loosely arranged and in full bloom, which gave the appearance of being freshly selected right from the garden. The tabletops were accented with gold chargers, gold rimmed china, and peach toned menu cards describing the exciting meal guests were about to receive. Rather than a French style dinner service as one would anticipate given the wedding design, Lila and Paul had a surprise in store. Family and friends were delighted with a nontraditional Brazilian Style Dinner service, where meats were butlered and family style side dishes were abundant.

Post dinner, guests danced the night away under the tent, and only took a break to embrace their playful side as they hopped in the photo booth, sipped coffee and tea, or enjoyed the most delicious apple cobbler and wedding cake. The night was complete as mini cupcakes in little gold boxes, tiered on floral china patterned cake plates were displayed as take home treats. The perfectly sweet ending to a lovable and oh so sweet couple's wedding!

Lila and Paul - much love and joy for a wonderful marriage and continued happiness together!
Stephanie and Matthew’s wedding planning experience is one we will never forget. We loved Steph and Matt right from the beginning. Young, fun, gorgeous . . . they are the type of couple everyone enjoys being around. For about 9 months we planned a sleek and modern seaside wedding, with all of the pieces nicely falling into place. Then, the week before their big day, Hurricane Irene struck, leaving our venue without power and us in a bit of a pinch. Chins up, we completely moved their location and all of their guests to new hotels and a new venue, The Omni Hotel, 48 hours from their wedding date! We cannot thank the incredible Omni staff for flawlessly executing our wedding vision in such a short time period. Additionally, we wish to thank again every vendor involved for their flexibility and support. The day after the wedding, Stephanie emailed me to say it was apparently all along they were meant to get married at the Omni. She was right. See for yourself.

The morning of the wedding, Steph and her maids readied with Kelly and Lindsey from Jennie Fresa. <place w:st="on"><state w:st="on">Champagne</state></place>, munchies, laughter . . . I love this time. Steph wore a couture confection from Carolina Herrera, paired with her favorite pair of Pradas. Her ladies were timeless and beautiful in steel dresses, fresh and dewy make-up. Classic tuxes for the guys made this group all around flawless. Lucky for us, there was a convenient alley right around the corner from the Omni, perfect for the couple’s first sighting.

The Jewish ceremony took place under a lustrous, yet ethereal chuppah that shone like the moon. There was not a dry eye in the room when Steph was escorted down the aisle by her father and Aunt Margie to her favorite song, a special composition of “True Companion.” As part of their ceremony, Matthew’s tallis was fastened around them with an elephant that had belonged to Stephanie’s mother. Amidst their tears, this couple could not stop smiling, and applause exploded as they made their way down the aisle together as man and wife.

For the reception, strong white callas and soft orchids admist floating candles atop charcoal linen and silver chargers were all washed aglow with violet and sapphire lighting. Carey from Stems, always a delight to work with, totally rocked our vision with her artistic and architectural centerpieces. Guests danced the night away to the incredible talent of Night Rhythm. A slipcovered lounge space in an alcove was a welcoming spot for guests to relax after a long sets of intense dancing (and singing!). And no guest could resist the whoopee pies, donuts and cake pops atop our mirrored table.

On the stunning fall day of September 24th last year, we found ourselves again at one of our favorite venues, Saltwater Farm Vineyard, for the marriage and wedding celebration of Lara and Robby. When we first sat down with Lara and Robby we fell in love with their idea and vision to convert the modern and streamlined hanger space into a warm, inviting and feminine atmosphere, lending subtle nods to their love of travel in south Asia. We worked together to put ideas using blush, peach, and creams offset by a warm toffee brown, angular willow branches and statement Phalaenopsis orchids.

A special thanks to Steve Depino who captured Lara and Robby's wedding in pictures and provided all of the images within this post.

Lara and the ladies readied in the bridal suite overlooking the vineyard. In late September, the view is spectacular with the grape filled overflowing vines, the views of Wequetequok Cove, and the color of the trees in the distance just starting to show signs of fall. Robby and the men arrived downstairs to some pre-wedding wine tasting, before showing off their own style (hot pink socks you say!) and we then made our way outside for a first sighting.

The ceremony was held between the vines, with the vineyard's archway <strike>dressed</strike> drooling in phal orchids, ever so artistically arranged and presented by our friend Yumiko at Hana Floral Design. The girls bouquets were soft and fluttery with ivory, cream, and pale pinks, complimenting their dresses. The ceremony itself was sweet and personal, with endearing notes of love and witty metaphors of their relationship's history and it's future.

Following the ceremony, guests were greeted to a lively cocktail hour on the patio of the vineyard, with tables dressed in peach and toffee, light music playing in the background and savory bites from A Thyme to Cook.

The evening transitioned into the converted hanger space where guests were met with a warm glowing reception, peach lamour dressed tables, toffee lamour napkins each accented with a phal orchid and menu card, gold accents in the statement Saturn Chargers and chivari reception chairs, and completed with a mix of high and low centerpieces beautifully designed by Yumiko and her team.

The mood of the reception was family focused and sentimental. The speeches by family members including Lara and Robby's parents and Lara's sister spoke volumes on the importance of how family has shaped their lives, and how their education and their life experiences created such a strong foundation for Lara and Robby to build upon as a married couple. Not without some humor in both the speeches and the photo montage which followed, the emotion was very high.

Following dinner, the dance floor was a sea of activity under the spell of The Park Avenue Band from Hank Lane. While many guests danced the night away other retreated up to the loft area to relax in the lounge created by Ryan Designs.

In the end, Lara and Robby created a celebration for guests which was
unforgettable, personal and unique. We were thrilled to be a part of it
all and wish them both a very full and happy married life together.

One of the cutest couples we have ever met, Brie and Matt, were married on a bright, breezy and beautiful June day. Brie and Matt, completely and utterly in love, set the stage for a heart filled, personalized and all around fun event.

The day's festivities were kicked off at a local Mystic cottage where Brie and her gals sipped mimosas, giggled with excitement and received hair and make-up from the talented Susan, Jenna and Lindsey from Naomi's Salon & Spa. Brie wore an incredible tiered Lazaro gown that seemed to float on air as she moved about, while her maids were soft and pretty in smoky purple cocktail dresses. The guys arrived by trolley for a first sighing on the property, and then with IRIS Photography (who graciously provided all of the fabulous photos for this post), they headed throughout Mystic for photos and adventure!

Later that afternoon, the ceremony took place deep within the vines at Saltwater Farm Vineyard. Purple flowers and greens dressed the rustic arbor, while mason jars filled with garden flowers graced the aisle. Before taking their seats, guests were treated to a lemonade and iced tea stand and a mango-peach fizz drink served in mason jars, a tribute to Brie's favorite Arnold Palmer drink. Mystic Harpist provided light yet exquisite background music, Reverand Bob Henderson officiated and girl that Brie used to babysit for as a child sang. With the breaking of the glass, a kiss and a cheer, Brie and Matt were wed and the party began!

Brie and Matt's wedding is the perfect example of how an artistic medium can serve as the central muse for an entire wedding. Early on in her planning process, Brie fell in love with the book, Porch Flowers, which focuses on outdoor entertaining. From this idea, an eclectic farm stand theme was born. Carey from Stems Floral Design understood the vision immediately, and completely brought the theme to life with "just picked from the garden" style arrangements. Cocktail hour on the patio featured an old fashioned farm table, gorgeously presented with delicious hors d'oeuvres, ribbon and wildflowers. Inside the vintage hanger, guest tables with textured steel linen featured purple and yellow arrangements in mercury glass and mismatched purple vases sourced from antique malls and flea markets. Floral napkins tied with a peppy mustard ribbon gave our tables a kick and pulled the entire look together. Mason jar stamped escort cards hung cheerily in the entry. Linda and her gang from A Thyme to Cook served an incredible meal while the amazing band Soho brought the house down. Passed mini ice-cream cones were a sweet highlight of the evening, while midnight munchies of donuts and French fries kept the crowd grooving. A sleek, yet rustic lounge space on the second floor was the perfect spot for guests to relax for a moment and take in the amazing day.

Just last summer, Liz called Sixpence to inquire about our services a mere three months before her wedding. Ever the organized bride, with so much passion and so much energy, Liz could not be more excited to tell us all about her plans to marry Fred on Fred's family property in central Connecticut. Much was planned and so many special touches arranged, although Liz and Fred were seeking our guidance to pull all of the final details together for their Sperry-tented, lakeside, at-home wedding.

We had the wonderful opportunity to work with some of our favorite vendors, and also meet some new who have also become new favorites (love that!) all while bringing Liz and Fred's understated, farm-to-table, romantic dinner-by-the-lake wedding to life. The wedding day weather could not have been more perfect for mid-October with sun and mid-seventy degree temps, and a night which brought crispness and the smells of the fall outdoors.

A special thank you to Bob Young at Blue Diamond Photography, who was so wonderful to work with, and so nice to share his stunning images with us to blog!

Liz and the ladies readied for the wedding at the Inn at Middletown after having their hair and makeup done at Iron Scissors. Liz was radiant in Olivia, by Watters, the creamy color was perfect and soft against her complexion, and the floral detailing was delicate and feminine, complimenting the natural setting for the wedding reception. The girls carried bouquets in pale tones of fall colors, and the statement church arrangements were magnificent, all created by a dear family friend, Maria, who just happened to also be Fred's family's next door neighbor. The ceremony was held in the Chapel at Wesleyan, which was meaningful to the bride and groom, and a nod to their long standing ties with the school. A string quartet played and the Very Reverend Peter Moore Officiated.

Following the ceremony, guests were welcomed to the residence, and greeted by a lively cocktail hour with eclectic music by one of our favorite duos, Judy and Mark, delicious bites from A Thyme To Cook who were incredible from start to finish - as they always are, a little lakeside fishing, and details with a rustic and whimsical nod.

The reception tent was polished with long rectangular tables, in crisp white linen, with navy and burlap runners. Atop the runners sat varied height candles on cut wood slices, ones which Fred personally cut, and mixed with potted herbs to play off the natural setting and Liz and Fred's love of cooking and good eats! To start the reception, Fred's father couldn't have been more excited to welcome everyone to his home and then sing Du, Du Liegst Mir Im Herzen, a German tune which was very touching. <span style="font-family: "Humanst521 BT"; font-size: 12pt;">The Happening band delighted guests with a packed floor all evening, except for the break in the action to witness the fireworks display. Later in the evening, a bonfire was lit, guests enjoyed s'mores while recalling old stories and a few even chose to partake in a moonlight swim! It was the perfect end to Liz and Fred's wedding day!

As we ring in the new year and toast to all the excitement, splendid couples, beautiful weddings, wonderful venues, amazing colleagues and all that 2012 has in store for us, we also take a few moments to honor an incredible 2011.

We were pushed and challenged to expand our creativity, to explore and design in new locations, and to set the bar that much higher and then some. We, along with our clients, braved snow (at the beginning of the season and the end!), torrential rains, extreme heat, a hurricane, some of the most glorious of weather days and more. We grew our team, yet again and broadened our talented network of vendors and colleagues, allowing our clients fetes to be that much more fabulous! And we met amazing couples, who welcomed us into their fold, gave us the opportunity to play such intimate roles in their lives - their wedding day, and who leave us with fond memories, in the same way we hoped we were able to do for them.

Here is just a small look back at our year:
Here's to 2011!talia@sixpencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04397089506674134957noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143467027459107158.post-2598835657331718642011-12-06T16:22:00.000-05:002011-12-06T16:22:18.324-05:00Connecticut Wedding Planner | Tori and Jack's Prep School SoireeTori and Jack’s wedding was a true expression of them as a couple. Victoria, an interior designer, was exceptionally inspired by a whimsical yet composed fresh and preppy spring garden feel. Jack, with his infectious grin and a background in the film industry, wanted to ensure friends and family who traveled far and wide for the couple’s wedding weekend had an amazing time. The couple's charming personalities were infused throughout all aspects of their wedding, beginning with their wedding invitations. A delicious accordion style letterpress invite featuring love birds captured their young at heart humor perfectly. The love bird theme was carried throughout their day of stationery, a sweet reflection of our couple's adoration for each other. Together with their families, they hosted an unforgettable June celebration at Avon Old Farms School for Boys in Avon, Connecticut that was full of thoughtful touches for their guests and downright fun!

The wedding party’s attire definitely set the stage for the affair. Tori wore a beyond gorgeous custom designed gown from Modern Trousseau; the marvelous ruffle detail was true work of art in and of itself. Bright Manolos added an unexpected splash of color and tied in with her ladies in flirty one shouldered navy and magenta dresses. Jack and his men donned J. Crew. Khaki suits and personalized Chuck Taylors. Their preppy accoutrements were complete with multi-striped ties and pocket square for Beau Ties.

One cannot set foot on the campus of Avon Old Farms School for Boys without gasping over the incredible stone and oak architecture modeled after English Cotswold and Tudor styles, which immediately conjures up visions a la Harry Potter. For Tori and Jack’s wedding it was our goal to brighten and lighten all spaces, yet still hold true to the remarkable back drop.

The ceremony took place at the chapel on campus, where our wonderful florist Jane of Just For You Floral Design Studio festively hung white pomanders by green ribbons from the support beams. Tori’s uncle performed the piano for the ceremony and she walked down the aisle to a song he composed just for her and that moment, this being the first time she heard it. It was a very warm day, but luckily the sweet ceremony program fans tied with bakers twine were not only adorable, but also helped keep everyone cool!

Following the ceremony, guests were guided across campus by old-school chalkboard signs to the lawn where cocktails were held. Croquet, custom initial bean bag tosses and lawn golf were set up for guests to enjoy themselves as they took in the incredible view and sipped on specialty drinks.

For the reception we transformed the dining hall into a dramatic garden party. Chalkboard escort cards with each guest’s name and table were strung up on the original cloak hooks in the dining room, making a grand statement to all entering. Utilizing the school’s original tables of extraordinary lengths, we layered them meticulously with crisp white linen, custom aloe runners Jack’s mother had made while on a visit to India, pebble green chargers, and a hemp napkin rolled with a jeweled accent. Varied height arrangements of hydrangea, rose, lisianthus and ranunculus provided interest to the table, and were a gorgeous contrast against the paneled walls, while the exposed green stems were another dash of green on our tables. Menus were hung from each chair, tied with the signature bakers twine. There were flickering candles in every possible place we could put them, and specialty lighting cast about the room a welcoming glow.

The fun evening was complete with an impressive play list by Jack, a photo booth, and lots of “dancing fuel” including a candy bar, passed cookies, popcorn machine and the biggest hit of them all, ice cream sandwiches in a vintage cooler. All in all, a wonderful day and fabulous party for our "love birds" Tori and Jack.
Caity and Matt . . sigh, where to begin?? I met Caity, Matt, and Caity’s parents on a cold and blustery day almost two years ago. The whole gang glowed with ideas of a country chic wedding at a venue near and dear to their hearts – Hill-Stead Museum. Caity grew up in Farmington and attended Miss Porters School, so Hill-Stead with its incredible sense of history, magnificent artwork and proximity to their beautiful home was an obvious choice in which to hold the wedding reception. It was instant kismet and we were thrilled to bring their vision to life.

Jane and Mike of IRIS Photography captured the entire event from start to finish brilliantly. See for yourself!

The morning of the wedding started a bit overcast, but the clouds broke to real the most amazing sun drenched day. Caity and her maids had their hair styled at a local salon and then returned to her childhood home to lunch, sip champagne and get dressed. Caity wore a breathtaking Angel Sanchez one shouldered dress with fabulous ruffle detail and hot pink satin Kate Spades. And while I'm not sure exactly if we sourced our inspiration from those shoes or vice versa, they were the just the perfect shade that was reflected throughout the flowers and other wedding decor. Her girls looked just lovely in their Jenny Yoo dresses and soft hair. The groom and his men readied at another historic home in Farmington, donning Zegna tuxes and vineyard vines bow ties expertly tied by the groom himself.

Upon time for the ceremony, Caity and her father were escorted up the street by an old fashioned horse drawn carriage to Saint Patrick’s Church. The ceremony music was just exquisite and all too soon the smiling newlyweds were whisked away in a Rolls convertible, while all the guests made their way up to Hill-Stead Museum! Cocktail hour took place in the sunken garden where guests took in the beautiful afternoon, explored the rolling hills of the venue and were treated to an open house at the Museum. They had a wonderful time mingling, enjoying the scrumptious bites of Emily’s Catering, playing croquet and snapping silly takes in the photo booth. A sun shower quickly escorted everyone into the reception tent, but luckily for us it passed quickly and did not dare damper spirits.

The Sperry Tent on the West Lawn was a bright and happy place and it was so exciting to see our inspiration all come together. Our country chic setting was established by long guest tables layered with oyster burlap runners and floral arrangements featuring the most vibrant shades of pink and tangerine in a vast array of fantastic trophy cups and other silver containers particularly sourced for this event. Delightful mismatched floral china and letterpessed menus were pleasing indeed and welcomed each guest to his or her seat. Toasts to the couple ensued, in particular, Caity’s maid of honor gave a heart wrenching account of their friendship since Miss Porters School. Everyone feasted on a delicious meal and wine paring, numerous desserts and had a marvelous time dancing the night away to Eight to the Bar under the canopy of Japanese lanterns. An after party took place at The Country Club of Farmington, but not before each guest departed with a Hill-Stead honey favor as a sweet farewell.
Caity and Matt, it was a remarkable experience getting to know you, your parents, family and friends. It was our honor to bring your wedding dreams to reality and a privilege for us personally to witness your day. We wish you the best of luck in your new life together in Boston and do hope you stay in touch in the years to come. We will remember you and your gorgeous wedding always!

On a chilly night last winter, Hillary and her dad, Tom came to meet with us to discuss Hillary's dream of a wedding on the property of her parents' Bed and Breakfast in Suffield, Kingsfield Bed and Breakfast. With it's rolling hills, fountained ponds, history and charm, it was an incredible backdrop for Hillary's wedding to her prince charming, Rory.

Eileen Broderick Photography was on hand all day to capture Hillary and Rory's wedding and provided all of the images within this post.

On the morning of the wedding, Hillary and the ladies (and there were lots of lovely ladies) all readied at the Bed and Breakfast with the assistance of the girls from Dana Bartone Salon. Hillary wore an off white lace sheath gown and worked with her seamstress to add a pale peach rouched bustline and dramatic bowed back. The maids and usherettes wore dresses of their choice in three shades of blue from J. Crew. The guys also donned J.Crew, looking ever so dapper, in their striped blue ties.

The ceremony was held in an intimate grove of trees overlooking the setting sun and one of the propery's ponds. Ribbons of pale ivory, blush, and peach hung from the trees and blew in the gentle breeze. Millenniumm Music played, as guests were treated to lavender iced tea and fresh lemonade in their way to their seats. Guests fanned themselves in the August heat with two sided fan programs we created to tie in with the overall wedding decor. In keeping the ceremony personalized, one family friend married the couple and another sang. As the ceremony ended, a tease of fireworks filled the sky and Hillary and Rory exited followed by their bridal party.

Together, Hillary, Tom, Lindsay and I worked to design a French Country inspired wedding reception, beautiful and welcoming, unique in details and complimentary to property. Post ceremony, guests made their way to the stone walled garden area behind the Inn and were greeted by the delightful staff and incredible hors d'oeuvres display of Emily's Catering.

Under the soaring Sperry Tent, white lanterns hung, while we dressed the tables in Blue Etoile, Silver chargers, personalized menus in cornflower blue and lavendar and the florals, all provided by The Growth Company, were in ivory, green and blue, set in Vermont styled Ceramic Pots. We added gold toned framed table numbers. The table numbers matched in style to the "escort card wall" we created and hung gold frames from, directly guests to their tables.

Following dinner, Hillary and Rory cut their wedding cake, a surprise design from Hillary's dad Tom, provided by Classic Cakes. The momument on top is the Bunker Hill Monument in Boston, a location particularly special to Hillary and Rory. Just before the rain began to fall, we moved guests outside of the tent to watch the most incredible fireworks display, provided by Atlas Productions. Then, guests danced the night away to tunes played by The XRAYS, a Burlington, VT based band who also played at Hillary's brother's wedding.

Hillary, Rory, and Tom, thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to bring your vision to life on your gorgeous property. It was a spectacular day, filled with wonderful memories, and we were thrilled to be a part of it. Hillary and Rory, we wish you many years of love and happiness in marriage and hope that you always look fondly back upon your wedding day as the beginning of your lives together as one.

Cheers,
Today we are excited to be celebrating Lila and Paul's wedding at one of our favorite venues, Eolia Mansion at Harkness Memorial State Park! It is such a gorgeous location, the weather couldn't be more spectacular and the details are going to be divine. We have been working with Lila and Paul, a wonderful team of vendors to create their whimsical and eclectic French Hobo wedding and can not wait to see it all live and share in their incredible day.

Be sure to check back for the photos - the wedding is being captured by Katie Slater and they will definitely dazzle!

Today is Lara and Robby's wedding at Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington. We first met last December the week before Christmas, and it was certain that love was in the air. They are sweet and kind and planning their wedding has been a joy with each of them. Lara and Robby, as well as all of their guests have travelled from out of state to celebrate their marriage. While this morning is a little dark and gray, the vineyard's Hanger space will be transformed into a warm and sophisticated setting, featuring peach, gold, and copper, combined with white and ivory florals.

Check back in for pictures after the wedding! talia@sixpencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04397089506674134957noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143467027459107158.post-56660714405723159822011-09-19T07:25:00.003-04:002011-12-06T16:22:07.711-05:00Connecticut Wedding Planner | Amanda and Sasha's Sleek and Modern Saltwater Farm Vineyard Wedding!

Fashion forward, totally modern, and downright stylish, Amanda wed her laid back, witty and super handsome groom Sasha on one of the most incredibly beautiful May days. For nearly a year and a half, we worked with Amanda, in between her hectic business travel and intense MBA program, along with her absolutely adoring mother, Paulette to plan Amanda and Sasha's wedding at one of our favorite venues, Saltwater Farm Vineyard. After visiting some of the most stunning venues that Connecticut has to offer, Amanda fell in love with Saltwater as soon as she walked onto the property and knew that Sasha would just the same. With it's rustic, yet modern minimalist design, the incredible light which shines through the wall of windows, and the gorgeous grounds, there isn't anything not to love and we used the hanger as our backdrop to plan their navy and taupe wedding.

A special thank you to Jerome and Jen Braga of Studio 1923 who wowed us yet again with their extraordinary ability to capture all that is our clients, their personalities, and the unique aspects of their weddings which make them truly theirs. They did none other for Amanda and Sasha as well!

Amanda and the ladies readied in the loft space at Saltwater. Amanda slipped into her beauty of a Priscilla of Boston gown and the ladies wore striking short frocks in Navy. Sasha donned a navy suit and paisley patterned tie and the stood waiting to meet his blushing bride in between the vineyard vines. In keeping with the crisp and modern vibe, Amanda carried oversized callas - a classic and bold statement, and the ladies with bouquets of greens and viburnam.

Before the marriage ceremony in front of their family and friends, Amanda and Sasha gathered with their parents, bridal party, and Rabbi for the Ketubah signing in front of the Fireplace inside the hanger space. The ceremony within the vines was personal and emotional. Sasha wore his yarmulke from his childhood and the kiddish cups were ones from each Sasha's family and Amanda's as a gift on her Bat Mitzvah. The Chuppah was classically beautiful with white draping and large containers of bright green bamboo, greens, bells of Ireland all provided by Marcy and Thom at Dragonfly Event. Upon the conclusion of the ceremony, the newlyweds exited all smiles!

The Hanger space of the Vineyard was transformed into a neutral, yet sleek and modern vision with Fruitwood Chivari chairs, a drool-worth textured Stone Faille Linen, reminiscent of the stonework on the fireplace and main bar, and sky high calla lilies stretching into the open space thanks again to Dragonfly Event. We incorporated metal etched table numbers to balance the exposed metal and railings in the loft space and provided just a touch of whimsy with the wheat grass escort card display, with the cards sitting on Saltwater Farm Vineyard wine corks. As a tribute to Sasha's father, who has passed, and in honor of the couple's last name, Amanda and Sasha were given Blue Waterford Crystal Toasting Flutes, by Sasha's sister and they were used by the Newlyweds who toasted their guests and remembered Sasha's father.

Guests danced and danced, under the direction of Doug from Power Posse Productions, and then enjoyed a sweet delight of Gelato, on little wooden spoons, custom stamped with Amanda and Sasha's names.

Amanda and Sasha, we hope your wedding was all you dreamed it could be and more. Planning with you and your mom Paulette, was always fresh and fun - the balance between honoring tradition and pushing the unconventional brought our creativity and challenged us to be our best. We wish you all the best and many happy years together!

Cheers,

This spring, I received an inquiry from the absolutely gorgeous, Heidi, who was referred by her photographer, a friend and past client of mine, Alissa Dinneen. Heidi and her fiance Al, had assembled a wonderful team of talented vendors, including their florist, Jessica's Country Flowers, and were looking for some final design assistance to pull all of their details together and provide all of their wedding day stationery.

With Heidi and Al's wedding invitation suite as inspiration, we designed ceremony programs, table numbers, escort cards, and complimenting note cards, in their wedding colors of ivory, blush and charcoal. We worked with Heidi to find the perfect linens for the guest tables in an ecru crinkle taffeta and the accent tables in a blush lamour to compliment their venue, the flowers, and the stationery. The refined, yet fluttery muted palette fit perfectly with Heidi's vision.

We loved being a part of Heidi and Al's wedding. Special thanks to Alissa Dinneen for recommending our services and providing the gorgeous photography and images within this post!

Nothing could have made us feel more honored or privileged to meet Anna and Justin just three short months before their wedding day. When we sat in our studio, the two of them gushing over each other, telling us about their romance, their lives, their paths which lead them to their upcoming wedding, we couldn't help but leap on board, assist them with the remainder of their planning, and bring their wedding to life on a beautiful day in May!

Anna and Justin's wedding came together with an incredible group of vendors including Justin & Mary who photographed their day as seen from the swoonworthy pictures within this post!

The vision for Anna and Justin's wedding was inspired by the intricacies of their eight year courtship: time traveled, well layered, bohemian décor, with fluttery, feminine and refined tones set amidst a natural setting.

Anna was pure perfection in a Modern Trousseau lace gown which featured a split tulle train and exceptional detailing across the back, while her maids wore ethereal, goddess style mint colored gowns and Grecian hair pieces. Justin and his men sported a classic 1940s look with sleek gray suits and ties, with cheeky Adidas Rod Laver tennis sneakers . Anna carried an aqua blue wrapped bouquet, jeweled with a family heirloom locket, containing pictures of her grandmother, featuring ivory garden roses, white sweet peas, white veronica, dusty miller and white peonies.

Our beautiful couple wed on the grounds of the historic Webb Steven's Museum in a personal ceremony officiated by a family friend. When the skies opened and the rain fell, they remained together, hand in hand, under umbrellas held by their matron of honor, Anna's sister, and best man, Justin's father, and pledged their love to one another forever.

The rustic Webb Barn was completely transformed to reflect a vintage flea-market soiree. The entrance of the barn was flanked by antique french doors with guests names and table numbers written on the beveled glass panes, while draping, hung and side-gathered in the doorway welcomed guests to the jewels within. The back wall of the interior of the barn was decorated majestically with exquisite sunburst mirrors of a variety of shapes and sizes, which in turn reflected the incredible array of silver chandeliers suspended from the rafters. A mix of both round and long tables set with the airiest of pale pink overlay, stacked books and mirrored trays, gold chargers and a myriad of tea-stained, pink and ivory roses in vintage tea-ups and mercury glass created a warm and enchanting dinner party feel. Stacked vintage suitcases, mismatched candlesticks and a type writer guest book upped the eclectic ante. Slip-covered lounge furniture set both indoors and out with an array of scrolled linen and green silk pillows beckoned guests to gather, converse and rest tired toes, while a variety of Moroccan inspired lanterns and mercury glass tea lights were hung from the trees, magically bouncing light about the property. Late night, Anna changed into a peach toned, high waisted, short frock with vintage lace and a sheer neckline, as she danced the night away with her guests.

In keeping with the intimate dinner party vibe, guests dined on a delectable duo plate of filet and sea bass, while the sides were served family style. To appease each and every sweet tooth in the house, Emily's Catering also served a duo plate dessert, of rich flourless chocolate torte and a tiramisu shooter which tasted divine. Justin's cousin crafted the couple's wedding cake, a sweet three tired confection of chocolate and coconut. In a nod to the sweetest type of love, later in the evening, handmade sweet treats were displayed in hand-blown containers with personalized tags and vintage cake stands to tie in with the flea-market typewriter wedding. As guests boarded the school bus shuttles at the end of the celebration, individual bags of warm doughnuts and chocolate milk were offered to make the ride home that much sweeter.

Anna and Justin, thank you so much for being so wonderful, for being so in love and for making everyone around you smile. You were both complete joy and pleasure and we wish you so much happiness in all that life has in store for you.

A little under a year ago, Stephanie and Matt contacted us to design and plan their sleek and modern seaside wedding. And so we did. Then, Hurricane Irene ravaged the shoreline and left us without a venue, and it was time to pick up the pieces and plan again. As they say, luck is in the cards, because it just so happens that our new venue in New Haven is even better suited for our couple (and their guests who have flown in from all over the world to celebrate with them) than before. Congrats Stephanie and Matt! Can’t wait to share this day with you! Also, looking forward to working with so many wonderful vendors today who have really pulled together to make this transition happen, including Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, Stacey Ilyse Photography, Chris Walsh Productions, Night Rhythm Band, Stems FlowerDesign, Rob Alberti's Event Services, Ryan Designs, Wildwood Groups and Jennie Fesa Beauty Library.
Just eight months ago, we met Hillary and her father Tom for the first time to discuss Hillary and Rory's wedding vision, including the gorgeous property that would be the grounds for the entire weekend festivities. Hillary's parents own and run the Kingsfield Bed & Breakfast in Suffield, and the location is spectacular with its historic home and original interiors, the rolling hills, and two ponds with fountains. We have had a great time planning with Hillary and her dad and can not wait to share the details of this "preppy meets french-chic" wedding!

Stop back soon to see the details! talia@sixpencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04397089506674134957noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143467027459107158.post-22157807698307964932011-07-25T22:27:00.002-04:002011-12-06T16:23:03.910-05:00Connecticut Wedding Planner | Alissa and John wed with rustic chic, downtown style!

This past winter we had the honor and privilege of working with the beautiful Alissa Dinneen and her adorable husband John on their downtown rustic chic wedding at Connecticut's Old State House. I originally met Alissa through a past client whose wedding she had photographed and she came to us to assist her with designing her wedding stationery suite. I couldn't have been more excited when Alissa asked us to help her design her wedding as well. Together we designed a sophisticated city wedding with both glamorous detail and rustic accents, perfect for Alissa and John's winter wedding celebration.

Alissa and John had commissioned a team of the very best vendors in the biz and we loved being a part of it all. Choosing the photographer was something Alissa was very passionate about and she knew from early on that she would ask Laura and Ricardo from Alternate Angles to photograph her wedding. Their images - throughout this blog post, are nothing short of incredible, and they were so wonderful to work with on Alissa and John's wedding day.

Alissa and the ladies readied under the talents of Naomi and Angela from Naomi Martinez Salon and then Alissa, the glowing bride donned her stunning Judd Waddell gown from The White Dress By The Shore, and the bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo.

Alissa and John wed during the late afternoon and the 2 feet of snow on the ground paired with the mid-ceremony squall only added to the magic of the personalized, touching, and emotional marriage ceremony, presided over by Reverend Victoria Burdock.

Following the ceremony, guests moved into the Main Foyer and Lady Justice Foyer for the cocktail hour and were dazzled by the creative and delicious delights of Emily's Catering Staff. The bar included specialty cocktails choosen by Alissa and John - with a bit of a competition between the two! We worked swiftly to convert the ceremony space into the reception space.

We designed the entire stationery suite in Charcoal, Ice Blue, and Platinum, and used those colors to design the decor as well. Incorporating the rustic chic elements such as the Galvanized Lanterns, the fabulous moss and wood towered orchid arrangements, designed by Jessica at Jessica's Country Flowers, and the white wash distressed chairs, played off the sheen of the ice blue linens, the silver chargers, and the jewel embellished napkin rings.

Guested danced the night away under the direction of Butch Gray amidst the incredible warm ambience created by accent lighting by Dan at ShinDig Lighting.
Tom Morlock from Vantage Point Films provided this stunning highlights reel. His talent and creativity are incredible and he is wonderful to be around and work with.
