Connecticut Wedding Planner | Courtney and Mike wed at Guilford Yacht Club

Courtney and Mike were married under the summer evening sun of Saturday, July 14, 2012.Their family and friends gathered on the lawn of the Guilford Yacht Club in Guilford, Connecticut to witness the touching and personal nuptials of the couple. The spectacular views of Long Island Sound set as a backdrop for a picture perfect wedding day. The décor was pulled together by the bold and beautiful color palette of yellow and navy.  The details of the event were carefully selected and truly brought together the fun and whimsical feel of this summer wedding celebration.

Alissa Dinneen Photography captured so many natural and sweet moments of our bride and groom and truly understood the essence of the wedding.

The ceremony took place on the lawn of the Guilford Yacht Club, nestled amongst the natural beauty of  Long Island Sound. Courtney and Mike were married by Justice of the Peace Sara Carson surrounded by their family and friends.

Following the ceremony, all the guests congregated at the beginning of the aisle for a celebratory photo with the new bride and groom. The guests were able to enjoy the lovely grounds of the Guilford Yacht Club during the cocktail hour on the outdoor patio. Family and friends enjoyed a variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres selections both passed and stationary, while being swept away with the natural beauty that surrounds the venue.

The details of this summer soiree were just the right mix of simplicity and sophistication. The lightly textured, stripped navy and white ribbon could be seen throughout the day from the boutonnieres, to the tied napkins,  the centerpieces, ceremony floral arrangements,  the bridal bouquet, and along the escort card table. The striped ribbon alongside the navy and yellow color scheme brought a distinguished element to the palette.

The reception was filled with the lively upbeat music from Timmy Maia & Friends. Father of the groom, Tom Sansone performed a few songs with the band but the most memorable part of the night was when he performed a song that he had personally written for the new bride and groom. At the reception, guests picked up a pair of yellow flip flops and hit the dance floor. Yellow and white lanterns were strung above the dance floor.

To top off the evening, the newly married couple enjoyed a kiss and a few photos while watching the town of Guilford’s 4th of July Fireworks Display. Some guests joined the bride and groom to watch the fireworks while others continued to dance the night away. Courtney and Mike’s wedding day was filled with lots of love and we are honored to have been a part of it.

What a wonderful night it was! The Sixpence Team would once again like to congratulate Courtney and Mike! We truly enjoyed being a part of your special day.

xoxo,
Rachel, Lindsay, & Nicole

Connecticut Wedding Planner: Christina and Chris wed at Dolphin Cove Marina

In a boots and boat shoes, beachy western sort of fete, Christina and Chris wed at her family’s community yacht club, Dolphin Cove Marina.  From the first time we met, we knew this would be spectacular.  Christina’s ideas were well solidified from nearly our first meeting, playing on coral and sea blue with vibrant navy and orange as accents.  In the desire to keep their wedding intimate, personal, and downright fun, details were infused throughout to conjure memories of home, youth and festivity.

We want to send a huge shout out to Carla Ten Eyck for providing Christina and Chris with these incredible images from their wedding, affording us the ability to retell their story by sharing them with us, and hands down, being the perfect fit for Christina and Chris!  She nailed it!

As guests arrived for the ceremony, they were greeted with pashminas to warm chilled shoulders, offered to leave their shoes and set their feet in the grass with a shoe-check station, and offered a pre-ceremony beverage.  A family friend married the couple under a seaside arbor, crafted by Christina's mother!!, complemented by modern tunes played via a classic string ensemble.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds took a quick jaunt on Christina’s family boat – Grace, which had been adorned with yachting flags translating to “Just Married.”

Christina and Chris’s focus was to deliver to their guests an upscale clambake experience that combined classic New England fare and Texas down-home bbq, representing each of their upbringings.   The perfect fit was found with the incredible talents of the team at Outdoor Cookers!   From the raw bar to the pulled pork sliders, the cocktail hour was a hit, as guests played croquet and corn hole, sipped cocktails through colorful silly straws and mingled about.  Nautical touches in the rope knots on the cocktail tables and a beer bar in a small wooden dinghy added to the fun.

Once inside the Pavilion which gives the appearance of the interior of an old wooden boat, lanterns were strung, with table images attached, each a carefully crafted cut out of meaningful aspects of Christina and Chris as a couple.  The tables were dressed with an aquatic themed linen and runner, pale blue irish linen napkins and buckets of goodies for the meal which would be served.  The flowers were the perfect pop of color and texture to bring out the table top decor.  Christina spent countless hours ensuring the details and personal touches tied seamlessly together, hand crafting and cutting the table numbers, and sourcing much of the decor including the blue buckets of goodies, the guest napkins, the silly straws with little flags, herself!

Guests helped themselves to custom lobster bibs with the C&C logo on them, one which was repeated from the invitations through the reception details, adding the cohesiveness to the entire event.  The dessert bar carried the theme of classic New England treats with homespun touches, peach cobblers, cookies, and a mini two tiered carrot wedding cake that guests could not wait to try!

The bridal party delighted guests with an unexpected line dance, having everyone on their feet cheering.  The toasts by both fathers, as well as the friends, were sweet and sentimental, humorous and upbeat and just about perfect.  Guests danced and danced the night away leaving everyone with unforgettable memories of Christina and Chris’s wedding celebration.

We were honored to be chosen to coordinate Christina and Chris's wedding, to carry out their vision and to have the immense pleasure of getting to know them and their families.  We wish them the very very best.
